network traffic 8086 port

New postby ajarrett » Mon Sep 14, 2015 4:31 pm

We are seeing some traffic from our artica proxy server to 107.170.162.240:8086. Anyone have a thought on what this traffic is? It's currently blocked by ACL and we are trying to determine what the traffic is so we can allow it or reconfigure the server to not attempt the communication.

The 8086 port is used for HTTP connections to the statistics InfluxDB database
Artica stores statistics in the local or remote service ( if you using a statistics appliance ) using this port.

I checked the statistics server and it is not configured to use a remote server. Why would it be attempting to contact this 107.170.162.240 for statistics if "User a remote server" is disabled?

This came from the InfluxDB service that reporting:

Code: Select all
# Once every 24 hours InfluxDB will report anonymous data to m.influxdb.com
# The data includes raft id (random 8 bytes), os, arch, version, and metadata.
# We don't track ip addresses of servers reporting. This is only used
# to track the number of instances running and the versions, which
# is very helpful for us.

We have disabled this option in nightly 2.21.091422
Update to this new version and restart the InfluxDB service trough the GUI in order to remove this option.
