Temporary failure in name resolution [CLOSED]

New postby hsotnas » Wed May 25, 2016 11:34 am

Hello,

I am currently using Artica as a webproxy. I am able to access Internet on my lan machine via proxy. No restrictions have been configured on proxy.

However, at times I am seeing " Temporary failure in name resolution" error messages.

For e.g. I have installed docker engine on a VM which was successful. However, when I try to pull any images, I get following error. What could be the reason and how do I fix this?

# docker run hello-world
Unable to find image 'hello-world:latest' locally
Pulling repository hello-world
Get https://index.docker.io/v1/repositories ... rld/images: dial tcp: lookup index.docker.io: Temporary failure in name resolution

nslookup index.docker.io

This is a DNS issue on the 10.10.10.99 server.
Did Artica act as DNS server ?

Yes, Artica is configured as a DNS Server.

We have a Windows DHCP Server which hands out IPs to the clients and it has domain controllers IPs as DNS Servers. My Artica proxy has IP 10.10.10.199, I have added that as one more DNS Server which has fixed the problem.

Sorry for the noob question, please close this thread :)

Cheers
